12th Fail: Dharma's creative head slams Vidhu Vinod Chopra for being ‘chindi’ with credits: 'Be like KJo & Rohit Shetty'

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra made a roaring comeback with 12th Fail, which has garnered universal acclaim. While fans have showered nothing but love on the film, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ Head of Content, Somen Mishra has bashed the director for not giving credits to the writers.

While he refrained from taking Chopra’s name, Reddit users connected the dots after a part of his note read, ‘a film that was released on OTT recently’. Somen had written, “Be like Rohit Shetty. Be like my boss KJ. Always acknowledge your writers. Stop hogging all credits. Some directors have a terrible habit of forgetting their writers. Don’t be a d**k. A film which released on ott recently and is getting lot of love, nobody knows who has written it or the book on which it is based. Because the director remembers only him doing everything in all his interviews.”

On the contrary, Somen had earlier praised Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Vikrant Massey for making an ‘honest film’ in the form of 12th Fail. However, he also said that VVC is ‘chindi’ with credits in the writing and editing department.

12th Fail, based on a true story, draws from the struggles of the millions of students who attempt the UPSC entrance exam. But at the same time, it goes beyond that one exam and encourages people to not lose heart in the face of failure and to restart.
