Aamir Khan is one of the most versatile actors in the industry. Over the years, Khan has delivered mindblowing in different films. In a recent episode of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, the superstar Aamir Khan revealed that it was the ‘Maharashtra Band’ which helped him to pave his path in the Bollywood industry. The actor shared the journey of how he was cast in 1984’s film Holi and later went on to do several other movies with different directors.

During the chat show, Aamir revealed that he was thrown out of a theatre play three days before it was supposed to take place. He said, “Three days before my theatre play, it was Maharashtra bandh. Due to this, I couldn’t make it to the rehearsals. The director asked me to leave the show. I was in tears because they threw me out just two days before the play! I couldn’t get into intercollege. Just then, two guys came along. They offered me a diploma in film at the Pune Institute. I immediately boarded the bus and finished shooting. Another student, who was working as an editor there, saw that film. Impressed by my work, he offered me a film. After seeing those two films, director Ketan Mehta cast me in ‘Holi (1984).”

The actor further added, “After watching Holi, Mansoor and Nasir Sahab said, Let’s make a film with him. That’s when they got the idea of making a film with me because I was a good actor, and that’s how ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ happened. So, if it wasn’t for Maharashtra Bandh that day, maybe I wouldn’t have become a star.”

The journey of Aamir venturing into movies won the hearts of people who watched the show. His remarkable contributions to Indian cinema have not only enriched the entertainment industry but also made significant societal impacts.

In the midst of this, Aamir Khan, through his Aamir Khan Productions, delighted audiences with the enchanting film ‘Laapataa Ladies’, helmed by Kiran Rao. Currently, Khan is busy shooting for his upcoming film ‘Sitare Zameen Par’, slated for release during Christmas 2024. The film will be the sequel to Taare Zameen Par, released in 2007 and turned out to be a massive hit.
