AAP's Sanjay Singh detained by ED in Delhi Liquor scam case, second big arrest after Manish Sisodia

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday in Delhi Liquor Policy money laundering case.

It is the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.

ED on Wednesday morning raided Singh’s home in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy. The central probe agency questioned Singh for over 10 hours at his residence.

On the arrest of Singh, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva said, “Today, one thing is clear that the truth cannot be hidden…After Sanjay Singh, it’s Arvind Kejriwal.”

Reacting to the raids, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal earlier said, “They have been probing the alleged liquor scam for the last year but nothing has been found yet. Nothing will be found at Sanjay Singh’s residence. When someone is staring at defeat, they resort to desperate measures. That is what is happening right now.”

Earlier, in May, Sanjay Singh, in a letter to Finance Secretary TV Somanathan, said the ED director and assistant director deliberately linked his name to the alleged liquor scam without any basis, tarnishing his public image and defaming him.

Singh mentioned that his name was added on the basis of statements from Dinesh Arora. The AAP leader alleged further that the officers misused their position to tarnish his public image and demanded prosecution against them.

He added that he had already sent a legal notice to the officers concerned to issue an open and public apology.
