Actor Rituparna Sengupta Skips ED Summons in Bengal Ration Distribution Case – All You Need to Know

Bengal Ration Distribution Case: Actor Rituparna Sengupta received a new summons from the Enforcement Directorate to appear in court for the West Bengal ration distribution scandal on Thursday. According to the latest report, Sengupta must show up in person at the ED’s office next week at the CGO Complex at Salt Lake, which is located on the northern outskirts of Kolkata. She was expected to be present on Wednesday during the ED interrogation.

She did not, however, respond to the call; instead, she issued a communique to the Central agency explaining that her obligations outside the nation prevented her from personally appearing. She did, however, state in the communiqué that she wished to work with ED on the latter’s probe in full. She also told ED that she would personally show up for questioning at any time in the future.

Sources said that after getting the communique from the actor, the ED officials decided to serve a fresh notice to her and give her reasonable time to appear for interrogation at the Central agency office.

Sources said that the name of Sengupta surfaced while the ED officials were examining the documents related to an accused in the ration distribution case. She will be asked to clarify her links with certain transactions that surfaced during the examination of the documents related to the accused.

To recall, in 2019, ED officials summoned Sengupta in connection with the multi-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam in West Bengal.

She was summoned for involvement in some of the entertainment projects, including films, promoted by the Rose Valley Group. It was alleged that the films were produced using the money laundered by the Rose Valley Group through its various marketing schemes promising the investors lucrative returns.
