The latest controversy emerged when Alia graced the Met Gala 2024 in a stunning saree designed by Sabyasachi. While the statement ensemble was undoubtedly a sight to behold with its nine yards of sheer magic, many pointed out its resemblance to outfits previously worn by other celebrities.
Aligned with Met Gala 2024’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” Alia’s ensemble featured delicate floral designs and a butterfly blouse adorned with ruffled sleeves and a sizable bow. However, eagle-eyed observers were quick to draw parallels between Alia’s saree and the one worn by Deepika Padukone at the Marathi Filmfare Awards in 2017, both creations of Sabyasachi.
Moreover, some comparisons were also drawn between Alia’s saree and the one donned by Katrina Kaif at her wedding reception. Both outfits featured similar floral elements, prompting discussions among fans and fashion enthusiasts.
Despite the similarities, Alia Bhatt’s interpretation of the sheer saree showcased her unique style and flair at the Met Gala 2024, captivating us with its timeless charm.
Alia Bhatt completed the Met Gala 2024 look with custom-made jewellery featuring a sheesh patti, maang tika and earrings designed by Sabyasachi. The sheesh pati is meticulously etched with colourful diamonds, giving a regal look.
While sharing the pics on Instagram, Alia Bhatt mentioned the saree was created in total of 1965-man hours. “Creating this has been quite an experience… fun and stressful in equal parts. It has taken a collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftspeople, embroiderers, artists, and dyers, investing a total of 1965-man hours to create this ethereal saree. As I wear this outfit, I feel incredibly grateful to embody this exquisite creation, a testament to boundless love and painstaking effort”, Alia captioned.
