Animal: Is Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial a reflection of Ranbir Kapoor's relationship with father Rishi Kapoor?

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal emerged as a monstrous blockbuster at the box office. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial garnered polarising views from the nationwide audience. While some people called it a masterpiece, some slammed it showing toxic masculinity.

In the movie, we see the character of Ranbir’s Ranvijay getting harsh on wife Gitanjali’s character played by Rashmika Mandanna. While Ranvijay always tries his best to spend time with his father, the latter is always busy with his work and doesn’t give him time. Well, in the latest episode of Koffee With Karan season 8, Neetu Kapoor explained the dynamics of her relationship with late husband during their dating days and said, “We had a fabulous time, especially with Yash Ji (Chopra). We would party in the night, play antakshari, indulge in dumb charades. It was like one big picnic. That was really, really fun. However, I had Rishi Kapoor as my boyfriend. So, I never truly partied. He was always like, ‘Don’t do this. Don’t do that. Come home.’ So, I never experienced the wild side of partying during those days.”

Talking about the time, when the late actor was in New York for his cancer treatment, she said, “Because you know Chintu Ji (Rishi Kapoor) is a very loving person. He had a lot of love in him. But there was something he never really showed his love. He always kept his distance and bullying people, not show his love. Especially with me and my children, he was like a big thing. Respect and all and with that he lost out on a lot with his children. He was never a friend to them.”

She added, “But that year, he opened up. He showed love, went towards me also he was so lovely. We had the best time.”

Recently in an event, RK spoke about his bond with late father and said, “He was travelling everywhere so there was not a really friendly relationship between us. We couldn’t just sit and chat, and I really have that one regret in my life. I wish I could be friends with my father. I wish I could share more with him, which is one regret I always live with. I respected him but we were never friendly. But I’m glad I have a daughter to love. When God takes away something, he also gives something back,”

Well, if you analyse the spoken words of Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir, it would somehow draw a parallel between the RK’s unusual relationship with late Rishi Kapoor and Ranvijay and Balbir Singh played by Anil Kapoor.
