Anurag Kashyap opens up on his college Hansraj, says, 'Girls are not allowed to go inside hostels

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, in a recent interview with Jist, has spoken about being friends with people with different political opinions and ideologies, and also opened up about his alma mater Hansraj College in New Delhi.

On his friends

Everything changed after 2016-17. Old friends started fighting with each other. We used to be able to have conversations with each other despite our differences. I have had friends that were such pure vegetarians they used to bring their own utensils, but we used to sit across the same table and be able to have discussions.

It was great. There was a lot of freedom, I went back recently and saw that girls were not allowed to go inside hostels, they’ve put up big bars. College was a great time… But the atmosphere is very restricted now. I’ve heard they have a new department about cows and gobar. Do they have a three-year course for it?

Back in 2016, when Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh graced the show Koffee With Karan. While interacting with host Karan Johar, Singh revealed how Ranbir replaced him in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet.

He said, “I was unceremoniously dropped because at the time I couldn’t justify the budget. My star value wasn’t high. But things have changed.”

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kashyap also made some revelations. He said, “I was not a part of the selling. When the film got sold at a high cost, it wasn’t sustainable. I tried very hard. I tried so hard that I even postponed the shoot of Bombay Velvet and shot Ugly, hoping things will get right in that time because Ranveer also, at that time, started doing Lootera. So I waited. He really wanted to do Bombay Velvet. He had even memorised all the dialogues.”
