Defending world champions Australia Women folk cricket team will look to continue their winning march after they take on Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in Match No. 10 of the continuing ICC Women folk’s T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sharjah cricket stadium on Tuesday (October eight). Australia posted a cosy six-wicket win over ACC Asia Cup 2024 champions Sri Lanka, strolling home to their target of Ninety four in barely 14.2 overs.

New Zealand, also started off on this T20 World Cup with a win less than their belt, hammering Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian team by a major fifty eight runs last week. The win over India ended New Zealand’s losing run of 10 successive matches.

“Obviously they played out of their skin and really attacked the Indian team, so it won’t be too dissimilar to how we approach every game and that’s to come out with intensity,” Australia’s Sophie Molineux said.

“Obviously the conditions are very different to where we played them back in Australia, but again, it’s just adapting. They’ve obviously had an especially good win in order that they’re going to come in on a high and confidently we can stick to it our momentum to boot,” she added.

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine starred with the bat, smashing fifty seven off 36 balls to launch her side to a match-winning score. “We were fortunate to get three games against them (Australia) as build-as much as this, which probably helped us against India,” New Zealand all-rounder Suzie Bates said.

“We’ve played them a lot over the years, now not a lot recently, but I thought we competed pretty much in those games. And after the start we’ve had at this tournament, I believe if we can put that performance that we put together against India, against Australia, we’re going to maneuver really well,” she added.
