Chandu Champion: Kabir Khan Discusses Difficulties of Filming Kartik Aaryan’s Action Sequences, Says ‘Quite a Task’

Kabir Khan, who is basking in the success of his recent release Chandu Champion, recently opened up about the difficulties he faced while shooting the movie. In the film, Kabir showcased an eight-minute-long war sequence. He also discussed one of the most challenging scenes to shoot.

During an interview with news agency PTI, Kabir said, “I have always believed, and have done so even in my earlier action films, that action for the sake of action never really works; then it’s just an item number. Action works when the emotional drama and arc of the story move forward with the action. The start of the action and the end of the action have to advance the plot, and in this film, it’s huge. It’s one of the most pivotal points in the plot.”

Talking about the much-discussed action sequence in Chandu Champion, Kabir added, “We are so used to doing things in films where if it’s not happening, we take two or take three or take four, and we can keep trying. Here, we had no take two. It was only one take, and we had to get it correct because a lot of big structures were going to crumble and fall, and you cannot set it up all over again. On top of that, we were shooting on location in Kashmir at a very high altitude. Carrying people and equipment up there and training them for several days before attempting the single take was quite a task.”

About Chandu Champion

Kartik portrays former Indian Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar in this sports biopic. The movie is co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan and is backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Kabir Khan Films.
