Elon Musk Uses an Old Photo to Value Farmers

The billionaire CEO of Tesla, a pro-climate activist, boosts his already strong support for farmers who are strained by environmental policies.

Elon Musk is a pro-climate activist. 

The billionaire campaigns for the environment as he runs the electric-vehicle market leader, putting the company at the forefront of efforts to reduce polluting emissions from the auto industry. 

The Austin automaker has pushed most of its peers, even those hooked on revving gasoline engines like Ferrari, to rethink their environmental impact. EV development has since become the key priority in the industry, which has injected billions to build new models and attract consumers to their new offerings. 

For carmakers and experts, the electric vehicle equipped with state-of-the-art technologies is the future of the sector.

"We're trying to convey a message of hope and optimism and optimism that is based on on actual physics and real calculations," Musk told investors on March 1. "Not it's not wishful thinking. Earth can and will move to a sustainable energy economy and will do so in your lifetime."

This ambition should normally lead the techno king (as he's known within Tesla) to be critical of farmers whose practices are often still not environmentally friendly. 

But the situation is quite the opposite. Musk in recent months has been sending messages of support to farmers, while politicians want them to abandon the use of fertilizers and other products that contribute to global warming.

He has just taken advantage of a Twitter user's posting of an old photo of Musk. Musk had published the shot on the platform in May 2017 to reaffirm his support for the agricultural industry.

In the photo, Musk was 17 years old. He wears jeans that are rolled up to the knees and a t-shirt and sneakers. He holds a hammer in his right hand and has two hats on his head. The photo was taken in a farm in Canada, where Musk had immigrated to join his mother, Maye. The billionaire was born in South Africa where he lived until age 17.
