EXCLUSIVE! Manoj Bajpayee, Neeraj Pandey on 'Secrets of the Buddha Relics' | Not Just Bollywood

Manoj Bajpayee and director Neeraj Pandey returns with third chapter of ‘Secrets of the Buddha Relics’. Secrets of the Buddha Relics will focus on the ancient legends surrounding the final days of Gautama Buddha and relics that surround the very center of Buddhism.

It focuses on the ancient legends surrounding the final days of Gautama Buddha and relics that surround the very center of Buddhism. Titled Secrets of the Buddha Relics, the new instalment comes two years after Secrets of the Kohinoor and Secrets of Sinauli: Discovery of the Century (2021). The franchise is created by Pandey and narrated by Bajpayee.

When asked why a story on Buddha relics, Neeraj says, “It’s a fascinating story on how the concept came about. We wanted to talk about things that are not known to the common people and it’s also a journey of discovery for us because while researching, we got to learn a lot of stuff ourselves.”

Talking about Buddhism and the logic behind it, Manoj Bajpayee says, “Ever since my childhood, all the questions one was asking or wondering about- Life, Death, Living, everything gets answered in due course of time. Buddha living all the comfort of the palace life and vanishing into the jungle, seeking bigger answers for bigger questions, it’s all personal. Buddha or any other great philosopher who came to this planet starts making sense to you if you’re the blessed one. You start understanding all the questions about life and death.”

Talking about its impact on the current generation, Bajpayee adds, “I personally feel the journey of Mahatma Buddha has fascinated all the people of all the generations. It has taught so many things to all the spiritual people, it has impacted the spiritual space of this world. Every generation is always ready to get impacted and inspired by a Mahatma like Gautam Buddha.”

Neeraj believes that the Buddhist philosophy is very logical because if you see around yourself, just the mention of his name has become a very important part of our pop culture. “At a sub-conscious level, even if we don’t know about Buddha, at least we know he’s synonymous with peace and calm. That goes for people who are not at all into Buddhism as well.”
