'Gadar 2' director Anil Sharma says how Priyanka Chopra got her nose operated and how it backfired

Anil Sharma is fresh off the blockbuster success of his last film Gadar 2. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, he recalled the memories of working with Priyanka Chopra in their 2003 film The Hero: Love Story of A Spy, and how a nose operation that she underwent went completely wrong, leaving her and her family in tears.

The filmmaker revealed, “I left for a trip to America and Europe after Gadar was released, and I returned after two months and found out that Priyanka had gotten an operation on her nose because she wanted to look like Julia Roberts. This is what I read in the papers, and I wondered why she’d do something like this; she was already good-looking.”

He added, “I called her immediately, and she came over the next day with her mother. They were in tears, they told me about the operation, which had even left a mark under her nose. It’s still there to this day. They said it would take months to heal, and that Priyanka had been dropped from several projects she’d already signed.”

How the problem was resolved

Sharma remembers calling a veteran make-up artist. “I called him over. I said, ‘Dada, yeh ladki hai, iska kya kar sakte hain?’ He said he’d do something. Three days later, we shot a screen test with her. We gave her a short wig, and once the test was shot, we showed it to people, including Sunny Deol. They all thought she was beautiful.”

Sharma continued and said the reason behind the nose operation was the actress’ sinus problem. After narrating the incident, he added that Priyanka Chopra was extremely hard working and dedicated and continues to touch new heights of success.

The Hero- Love Story of A Spy released back in 2003, which was Chopra’s Bollywood debut. It became one of the most expensive Hindi films of all time and also starred Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. It was shot across multiple locations like Canada, the U.S., Kashmir, London, and Europe.
