Lucknow: It was another night to forget for the Mumbai Indians as they registered a four-wicket loss against the Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. With the loss, their chances of making the cut for the playoff has diminished. But it is MI captain Hardik Pandya’s post-match comments that became the talking point. Hardik blamed the loss of early wickets for the loss. So was he indirectly blaming Rohit?
The feeling is that it is Rohit as Rohit mustered merely four off five balls, while Ishan Kishan, the other opener still got a start. Kishan was dismissed for 32 off 36 balls. Suryakumar Yadav (10) and Tilak Varma (7) also did not get among the runs.
“I think losing early wickets is tough to recover from and that’s what we couldn’t do it (recover) today. You still have to see the ball and hit. We just missed those balls and got out, that has been the kind of season we have had so far. I have always believed that you will be up and you’ll be up, just that you got to give it your all. A lot of things to learn from this game. It has been fantastic,” Hardik said at the post-match presentation.
Hardik also went onto lavish praise on Nehal Wadhera, who hit a crucial 46 off 41 balls and help MI get to a defendable total.
“I think he (Wadhera) did last year as well, he couldn’t get opportunities earlier (in the tournament) but he will play a lot of IPL and (represent) India eventually,” Hardik made a huge prediction on Nehal Wadhera.
