Heeramandi Actress Sharmin Segal Opens Up About Online Trolling, Reveals Shocking Truths: ‘People Are Interested In Negativity’

Heeramandi actress Sharmin Segal, niece of acclaimed Indian director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, recently reacted to the massive trolls criticising her for playing an ’emotionless character’ of Alamzeb, the daughter of Mallikajaan in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. In a recent interaction with News 18, Sharmin Segal addressed the online trolls and stated that the audience is the ‘ultimate decision-maker’. Scroll down to find more details.

Sharmin Segal Reacts To Online Trolling

Interacting with the media agency, Sharmin Segal stated, “The audience is the king at the end of the day. And as a creative person, it’s very important to acknowledge that. They have a right to their opinion – positive or negative. That’s one thing that gives me perspective and allows me to be okay (sic).”

During the conversation with the media agency, Sharmin claimed that netizens often look at the negatives rather than looking at the positives. She further claimed that the negative comments were equal to the positive comments on social media. Sharmin said, “I had given my all to Alamzeb’s character. We tend to fixate on the negatives but there are so many positives that have also come along, which we don’t talk about. It’s perhaps not interesting enough to talk about positives and we tend to look over them to some degree (sic).”

Sharmin further discussed her role in Bhansali’s period drama where she felt that she was missing out on the ‘love’ she received from social media. The Heeramandi actress added, “There was a point when I was not looking at many things [reviews] but then slowly, I realised that I was also missing out on a lot of love that I was getting. I’ve now started paying attention to that. Over the last few days, I decided to look through it all. The audience’s opinion is what will probably help you be the best version of yourself (sic).”

However, Sharmin in the interview mentioned that she happily accepts ‘positive criticism’. She was glad to know that people were open to sharing their opinion on Alamzeb’s portrayal. Sharmin added, “I saw positivity, constructive criticism, and a whole range of feedback and that’s what happens when you put yourself out there as an artist or an actor. It was actually quite nice to hear all sides of things. It’s an inevitability. Opinions shape you as an actor and a human being. These are actual humans responding to you and it makes you realise how many people you can reach. These opinions are very important (sic).”

It is worth noting that Sharmin’s heavy trolling was addressed by other co-stars of Heeramandi. Many felt that she needed to accept the audience’s input while others backed her impeccable portrayal of Alamzeb in Bhansali’s period drama.
