ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Team India's group stage fixtures, venues

The wait for the announcement of the 2024 T20 World Cup finally ended on Friday with the ICC announcing the complete list of fixtures for the event. The 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup, to be hosted by West Indies and the United States of America, will be the ninth edition of the tournament since its inception in 2007.

Team India, under MS Dhoni, were champions of that inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup (Then World T20) in South Africa, having beaten Pakistan in the final, but ever since then, the trophy has eluded them. In the 2022 edition that was hosted by Australia, India, under Rohit Sharma, reached the semi-finals where they were outplayed by eventual champions England.

India have been slotted in Group A along with arch-rivals Pakistan, hosts USA, Canada and Ireland.

India, a team in transition with youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh coming in, will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on 5 June in New York. The marquee India-Pakistan clash will take place four days later at the same venue.

While it remains to be seen who will lead the Men in Blue in the upcoming edition, Suryakumar Yadav had been given captaincy responsibilities against Australia and South Africa, with the Men in Blue winning against the Aussies 4-1 and sharing the spoils with the Proteas 1-1 after rain abandoned the first game in Kingsmead.

There’s not much T20I cricket left for India before the World Cup. They next host Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series starting on 11 January, and tat will be followed by a five-match Test series against England and then the Indian Premier League (IPL).

We now take a look at Team India’s complete list of fixtures at the 2024 T20 World Cup in detail:

Group stage

5 June

India vs Ireland at New York

9 June

India vs Pakistan at New York

12 June

United States of America vs India at New York

15 June

India vs Canada at Lauderhill

The group stage fixtures will be followed by a Super Eight stage, which will begin on 19 June. The top two teams from each group will qualify for Super Eights, where once again teams will be divided into two groups (Group 1 and Group 2). The top two teams from each Super Eights group will advance to the semi-finals and then followed by the final.

The semi-finals will be played on 26 and 27 June in Guyana and Trinidad respectively. Barbados will host the T20 World Cup final on 29 June.
