That will be it from the live coverage. We will see you next time as New Zealand will look for a consolation win in Indore and India will want to steamroll yet another side. Until then, have a good time!

India have continued their domination at home. Some stats to prove it -

- This was India's 23rd ODI series win from 26 series since 2010.
- India have defeated New Zealand in all 7 ODI series at home.
- New Zealand lost first 5 wickets in 11 overs for 15 runs. This was the lowest score for New Zealand to lose 5 wickets.

Mohammed Shami, Player of the Match: Whenever I start, I just focus on maintaining the right lines and lengths. But it does happen sometimes that you bowl well and yet don't get wickets. On other days you may not be in rhythm, and still get wickets. That happens.

I feel that the more you work with the ball in practice, the more success will come. As they say, if you love something that thing happens yours. I never thought I'd get to have a proper seam position and it gives me joy to see the seam upright as it goes in the air.

As a new-ball bowler, it's important to assess the pitch and pass the message quickly to the other bowlers as well. That is beneficial for the team and other bowlers as well.

18:49 (IST)

Rohit Sharma, India skipper: The last five games, bowlers have really stepped up. Whatever we have asked of them, they have stepped up and delivered. You don't usually see this type of seam movement in India, you generally see it outside India.

These guys have some serious skills, they work really hard and it's great to see them being rewarded. We trained yesterday and the ball was nipping around under lights (on toss). We knew that if they had 250 or so, it might have been challenging for us but that was the point of opting to chase.

We batted first in the last game, so the idea was to challenge ourselves and bowl first. Not sure what I'll do at Indore.

The confidence is high within the group and that's great to see. They (Shami and Siraj) were raring to keep bowling long spells but I reminded them that there is a Test series coming up as well, so we need to take care of themselves as well. They always want to continue but I have to step in and draw a line and say ‘Boss, there are other bowlers as well.’

18:44 (IST)

Tom Latham, New Zealand skipper: Batting up top wasn't our best performance. India put the ball in the right areas and it was one of those days where everything we tried didn't work. On the other hand, everything India did worked. There was some tennis-ball bounce, some came through, some kept low and there was some movement. We just couldn't build partnerships at the top. Guys lower down tried to fight but it wasn't easy. We didn't adapt well today, considering the surface.

18:37 (IST)

Shubman Gil: It was a good opportunity for me to spend some time in the middle and happy to stay unbeaten till the end. There was a little in it for the fast bowlers in the second innings, thought there would be more when we saw them bat, but there wasn't a lot after first 4-5 overs. But there was something for spinners for sure. It was gripping when (Mitchell) Santner and (Michael) Bracewell were bowling.

It's always amazing to bat with Rohit bhai Virat bhai and see the shots they play. Me and Ishan Kishan are best of the mates in the team, so we do have a laugh when we are together in the middle. We spend a lot of time off-field together, it was good to spend some time in the middle, batting together.

So India have dominated the Kiwis now after a clean sweep against Sri Lanka. We will have to wait a few more days to see if India can white-wash New Zealand as well, but they have dusted the series in first two games itself. The first ODI was a run-feast and Michael Bracewell almost pulled a heist on Indian bowlers, but the Indian bowlers came back stronger in Raipur and literally crucified the Kiwi batting to dismiss them for 108. The batting was more like an advanced net session then as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill cruised away to chase the total. Rohit also hit another half-century in the process.

18:27 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

20.1 Shubman Gill comes down the ground and lofts the ball over mid-on. The ball runs away to the fence and India have won the match by 8 wickets and sealed an unassailable lead to the series 2-0.

18:23 (IST)

19.5 Ishan Kishan sweeps Michael Bracewell. Bowled a lot fuller, or on a sweeping length. A couple of bounces and the ball goes over the fence.

18.4 Ishan Kishan comes down the track and smashes one over Santner! 100 up for India.

18.1 Virat Kohli is gone! Can you believe, he has been stumped. Mitchell Santner beats him with drift and spin, Kohli was dragged forward into the shot and Tom Latham dislodges the bails. Kohli had already started walking back even before the third umpire gave the verdict.

17.5 Shubman Gill Gets on his knees this time and sweeps it over the square leg fielder that is standing inside the circle.

16.2 Kohli-delight! Shipley pitches it full right below Kohli's head and he drives it back past the bowler. Beautiful shot down the ground.

The crowd is elated to have Virat Kohli out in the middle with bat.

14.2 Rohit Sharma is gone. The ball kept too low after pitching short of a good length, moves in a bit, and Rohit was left helpless with no bounce on that occasion, as he tried to pull it. The skipper goes after hitting a fifty. Rohit Sharma lbw b Henry Shipley 51 (50)

17:54 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

12.4 Fifty up for Rohit Sharma! Rohit gets on his backfoot and tucks it on the leg side for a single. 48th half-century for the Indian skipper and that has come up with some exquisite shots today.

17:50 (IST)

12.3 New Zealand review for LBW against Shubman Gill but the ball was going miles away from the leg stump. Gill will continue.

17:48 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

12.1 A reverse sweep from Rohit Sharma now! He is owning the NZ bowling for the moment. Gets to 48 with that reverse sweep to Santner.

17:42 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

10.5 Shubman Gill edges one, Santner has a slip fielder for himself, but the ball flies wide of him and races away to the third man boundary. Nothing going the Kiwi way. This match was always going to be India's, isn't it?

10.1 Rohit Sharma is cruising away! Mitchell Santner into the attack and has swept him on the first ball itself. The ball runs away to the square leg boundary.

17:38 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

Its all happening in Raipur, a fan invasion while Rohit Sharma is all focused to face the next ball. A small child intervenes and tries to hug Rohit! Security takes him away.

17:37 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

9.4 Carnage by Rohit now! Tickner bowls a tad bit fuller this time and Rohit creates room, and hits a six inside out over the covers region.

17:35 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

9.3 Another short ball to Rohit and he has pulled it towards deep mid-wicket. Not the best timed shot but no fielder there and he gets four runs.

17:31 (IST)

8.2 Once again width offered to Rohit Sharma and he slices it over the point fielder this time. Seems like the Kiwis want Rohit to get back in form.

17:29 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

8.1 Excellent timing by Shubman Gill, plays a beautiful straight drive, but Ferguson gets his hand on it. The ball still travels, and the mid-off chases it to save one run.

Harsha Bhogle: Of all this effort, they save one. Can recall Thanos here!

17:28 (IST)

7.5 Blair Tickners offers width and Rohit has hammered that through the covers.

India 33/0 after 8 overs

17:20 (IST)

6.1 An uppish delivery and Gill drives it through covers without any significant foot movement. But it was not needed there. Excellent shot to start a new over.

17:14 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

4.4 Lockie Ferguson bowls short to Rohit Sharma, not sure why!!! Pulls it over backward square leg, a finer and the ball disappears into crowd.

17:13 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

Rohit will want to stay in the middle for as long as possible, probably till the end. That shall boost his confidence a lot. Although, Raipur might be disappointed to miss out on a significant time of Virat Kohli at the crease.

17:11 (IST)

3.5 Rohit Sharma goes after Henry Shipley now. Shuffles on the leg side to create room and slaps that short delivery over covers for another boundary.

3.3 A fine shot by Shubman Gill, gets his first boundary of the day. Wide outside off, and he plays it over the backward point fielder.

1.5 Rohit Sharma pulls a short ball from outside of off stump for the first boundary of Indian innings. The fielder put in a valiant effort, ran all the way from deep square leg to deep mid-wicket but the ball ultimately touches the cushion.

The Sun is on the verge of setting down and the floodlights are totally on! Quite like the twilight moment, will be interesting if the bowlers can take some advantage of it. They don't have pink ball anyways.

16:59 (IST)

A good start for Lockie Ferguson, has troubled Rohit a bit. Just one run in that over. The ball as well is doing its bit.

Alight, after the dominance of Indian bowlers, the batters are expected to breeze past the target. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have taken the guard, Lockie Ferguson with the new ball. How long will India take to chase the target?

16:22 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

Hardik Pandya: A brilliant day to be honest, really happy with the way we bowled. We used the wicket rightly and everything went well for us. That wasn't bad at all (on the return catch), my body is feeling better with every match, it's coming on nicely and timely as well. We hit the right areas, and kept testing the batters, one of those days when the edges went to the fielders and we grabbed the catches.

This isn't a 108-run wicket, but we took all our chances. Let the batters decide on how to bat, I bat at six, at the end of the day, it's their call on how to chase this down.

16:20 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

Apologies for that update, the players will have a break and India's chase will start around 4.55 PM

16:15 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

That has been a clinical bowling performance from India. New Zealand is playing without Kane Williamson, but a single batter cannot decide the fate of a side. This has been brilliant from Indian bowlers, but the Kiwi top order has to look at the mirror and ask tough questions about what went wrong as this is the second consecutive time they have been bundled out. Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner salvaged them in the first innings, but not this time. A subset of the first ODI for those two as well. Back for the run chase in a while.

16:12 (IST)

The supper break will be at 5 PM IST, and Indians will be out to bat in just 10 minutes.

16:10 (IST)

34.3 That's the end of the Kiwi innings. They have been relieved of their misery. Kuldeep Yadav has the wicket of Blair Tickner, caught him plumb in front of the wickets. The batter reviews it but in vain. The ball was very close to the bat but didn't edge. Three reds to follow and India have not allowed the tail to wag. New Zealand are bundled out for 108! Blair Tickner lbw b Kuldeep Yadav 2(7)

16:05 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

33.1 This is an action replay to Glenn Phillip's wicket. Just that SKY had to walk a bit more in to grab the catch. Again a short ball from Sundar and Ferguson tries to smock it over deep mid-wicket, but no real power on it. Lockie Ferguson c Suryakumar Yadav b Washington Sundar 1(9)

16:01 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

How many more runs can New Zealand get? It looked a bit strong when Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell were playing, and Mitchell Santner as well gave hopes. But it doesn't seem to go long now. India have two slips for spinners bowling in the 33rd over! That is how they have dominated this innings, and not allowed the tail to do much either, for which they have been blamed quite often.

15:59 (IST)

IND vs NZ Live

31.1 Glenn Phillips is gone! That should see the innings end in no time now. A short-pitched delivery from Washington Sundar, Phillips pulls it but the boundaries are big here and the ball finds the cusp of Suryakumar Yadav at deep mid-wicket. Phillips is livid with himself. He looked comfortable, was there a need to take the aerial route? Glenn Phillips c Suryakumar Yadav b Washington Sundar 36(52)

Third maiden over for Hardik Pandya! And that was a wicket-maiden. India will want to wrap this Kiwi innings quickly now.

New Zealand 103/7 after 31 overs

30.1 Number seven down! Mitchell Santner is gone. Hardik Pandya bowls on a fuller length, Santner goes for an expansive drive but gets an inside edge and chops the stumps. India not allowing the lower order an elongated period in the middle today. Mitchell Santner b Hardik Pandya 27(39)

India will be expecting more runs from the middle order and discipline in the death overs as they look for a series-sealing win against New Zealand in the second ODI here on Saturday.

With the city hosting its first-ever international game, a sellout crowd of 60,000 plus is expected to cheer the home team.

After being down and out at 131 for six, New Zealand were allowed to score another 206 runs in the chase of 350 and that should worry India.

The visitors looked like getting a remarkable come-from-behind win but the individual brilliance of Mohammed Siraj stopped them.

With the bat, Shubman Gill, who scored a scintillating double century, had singlehandedly taken India to a competitive total with the others falling by the wayside. Virat Kohli’s individual effort had stood out in the previous game against Sri Lanka.

Hardik Pandya, who has not been at his belligerent best of late, will be expected to give final flourish to the innings. Accommodated in the middle-order following his double hundred performance in Bangladesh, Ishan Kishan would be itching to make the most of the opportunity after an off-day in Hyderabad.

Skipper Rohit Sharma has looked good and got starts but has not been able to convert, and Saturday could his day.

However, bigger concerns lie in the bowling department after the hiding the bowlers got from Michael Bracewell, who put the Indian attack to sword on Wednesday.

India brought Shardul Thakur into the team at the expense of the super quick Umran Malik considering his batting abilities. But the management needs to decide quickly if it wants a bowler who can bat or a specialist who can rattle the opposition with extra pace and get wickets in the middle overs.

Siraj has developed into an all phase bowler but others need to step up. Mohammad Shami was brilliant with the new ball but was taken to the cleaners by Bracewell. Hardik too was expensive.

In the spin department, Washington Sundar had a game to forget while Kuldeep Yadav continued his impressive run. The team also has the option playing Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep together but it has stuck to one wrist spinner and one finger spinner policy.

New Zealand’s never-say-die spirit came to the fore in the series opener and they would take a lot of heart from that. It won’t be a regular occurrence that a number seven in Bracwell and number eight in Mitchell Santner will bring back the team from a hopeless situation.

Finn Allen played some bold strokes but could not make it big. And in the absence of Kane Williamson, New Zealand need someone to anchor the innings.

The pace trio of Henry Shipley, Lockie Ferguson and Blair Tickner will be looking for more accuracy after being mercilessly attacked by Gill. It remains to be seen if Ish Sodhi regains full fitness for the must-win game for his team.

Squads:

India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KS Bharat (wk), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik.

New Zealand: Tom Latham (captain), Finn Allen, Doug Bracewell, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner.
