IPL Auctions 2024: Lucknow Super Giants retained players, current squad, purse amount, remaining slots

The first name on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) retained players’ list ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction was their skipper KL Rahul. Amid rumours of KL Rahul heading elsewhere from LSG, the Lucknow franchise in a tweet had confirmed Rahul’s retention with a post on micro-blogging platform ‘X’. LSG have qualified for the playoffs in each of their first two seasons in the IPL (2022 and 2023), but in 2024, they will look to go one step further by possibly reaching the final.

Rahul, however, could not play the full season this year after sustaining an injury. Rahul had injured his thigh while fielding in LSG’s game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 1 May, and was out of action for several months, only returning during India’s Asia Cup campaign in September.

Among the retained players are Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Naveen ul Haq, Kyle Mayers, Krunal Pandya, Mark Wood among others. Karun Nair, Daniel Sams and Jaydev Unadkat are the notable players who have been released by LSG.

LSG were involved in the trading window. While pacer Avesh Khan completed a move to Rajasthan Royals (RR), batter Devdutt Padikkal has come into the LSG setup from RR.

LSG have also traded out West Indies cricketer Romario Shepherd to Mumbai Indians (MI).

Lucknow Super Giants remaining slots: LSG currently have a roster of 19 players including six overseas players. LSG have six available slots to fill with two of them being overseas slots.

Lucknow Super Giants purse remaining: LSG have spent a total of Rs 86.85 crore so far, and have an auction purse of Rs 13.15 crore remaining.
