‘Vikram Lander is set into sleep mode’, reports ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) reported on Monday morning that the 'Vikram Lander' had been put to slumber at approximately 08 AM (Indian Standard Time).

ISRO stated that the data acquired by the payloads has been received at Earth and that the payloads have been turned off.

ISRO anticipates that Vikram Lander and Pragyaan will resurface around September 22.

Family court issues notice on plea of minor seeking maintenance from his mother

On Saturday, Saket Family Court issued a notice to a mother over a plea made by her young son demanding monthly support. The mother works as a nurse at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

The minor petitioner resides with his father, a junior advocate. Pritam Singh, a Family Court judge, issued a notice to the minor's mother requesting Rs 60,000 per month in maintenance. The case has been scheduled for a hearing on December 9, 2023.

Flight attendant found dead with throat slit in Mumbai apartment; 1 person detained

An official claimed on Monday that a 24-year-old female flight attendant was discovered dead with her throat cut in an apartment in Mumbai, prompting police to file a murder case and hold one person.

According to the official, the deceased, Rupal Ogrey, was from Chhattisgarh and travelled to Mumbai in April for training with Air India.

He claimed she was discovered dead late Sunday night in an apartment at N G Complex on Krishanlal Marwah Marg in the Marol neighbourhood of suburban Andheri.

According to the official, the Powai police have launched a murder case and detained one individual in connection with it.

Speaking on the continuing row over Cauver Water sharing, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said, "We are protecting the interest of Karnataka's farmers".

Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said, "We are protecting the interest of Karnataka's farmers. We know how to protect Karnataka farmers. BJP and JDS are doing politics. They demanded 25,000 cusecs of water. We agreed on 3,000 cusecs and now the court has given direction on 5,000 cusecs. The matter is in court again, we are appealing before the authorities for it to be reduced because there is no rain".

CM has previously stated that the Mekedatu project was the only way to resolve the long-running issue.

The Mekedatu project in Karnataka proposes to build a balancing reservoir on the Cauvery River. It entails building a reservoir at Kanakapura to assist provide drinking water to Bengaluru and to support agricultural activities in the Cauvery basin.

Government offices on alert mode from "misleading, counterfeit emails"

As G20 week begins, all government offices are on high alert due to a warning issued earlier by a designated arm of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) about any "misleading, fake, and counterfeit" emails sent by evil elements.

The action is part of heightened security in preparation for the two-day G20 Leaders Summit, which will be held in the national capital on September 9-10.

On August 24, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C) under the MHA had warned that "the misleading emails are targeted to various government offices, and individuals and falsely accuse them of cybercrimes, urging them to respond."

Focusing with a header of "Scam alert", the warning pointed that "fake emails are in circulation impersonating CEO 14C"

The Central government expressed its displeasure to the Supreme Court on Monday and demanded an affidavit from National Conference leader Mohammad Akbar Lone, one of the petitioners challenging the repeal of Article 370, who allegedly raised the 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogan in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

At the start of the hearing in a batch of pleas challenging the repeal of Article 370, an advocate representing the Kashmiri Pandit NGO 'Roots in Kashmir' raised the issue before a five-judge Constitution bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, saying he had filed an affidavit about a "startling fact" that came to his knowledge.

Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi has slammed the Aam Aadmi Party administration for attacking Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena over the installation of shivling-shaped fountains in several parts of the national capital, claiming that the AAP does not comprehend Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma.

Simply cutting a stone into a specific form does not constitute it a shivling, according to the minister of state for external affairs, in response to accusations that the LG had offended religious feelings.

"People from this party started to claim that LG doesn't know how to respect Hindu Dharma...They started blaming the LG for putting up 'shivling-shaped' fountains. They do not understand Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma because simply cutting a stone or rock into a certain shape does not become a 'shivling'," Lekhi told ANI in an interview on Sunday.

Heavy rains have drenched various regions of Kerala in recent days, killing two people in the state's Alappuzha district.

The deaths occurred on Sunday evening when the driver of an autorickshaw carrying a family of four lost control in heavy rain, causing the vehicle to topple and fall into the Achankovil river.

Lawyers in UP boycott work over Hapur lathi-charge incident

Lawyers in Uttar Pradesh will go on strike for three days starting Monday to protest an alleged police lathi-charge on advocates in Hapur district last week.

The strike decision was made during a meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council on Sunday.

"On the call of the Bar Council we are on strike. We will be meeting the district magistrate and hand him over a memorandum of our demands," General Secretary, Lucknow Bar Association, Kuldeep Narain Mishra told PTI.

The Council has demanded transfer of the Hapur District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, lodging of FIR against policemen, withdrawing fake cases against lawyers and compensation to lawyers injured in the Hapur lathi-charge.

While acknowledging the efforts of the MCD and the PWD, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government cannot take all the credit for the facelift because it was "missing in action" in the ongoing war of words between the Centre and the Delhi government over the beautification of the national capital ahead of the big-ticket G20 Summit on September 9 and 10.
