After Sachin Meena and Seema Haider, the cross-border love story of Javeria Khanum and Sameer Khan is making headlines across the country. The Karachi-based woman is set to marry her Kolkata-based fiance next year in January as she has been granted a visa for 45 days.

While the duo is set to exchange wedding vows in 2024, we take you through 5 Bollywood ventures which narrate the cross-border love stories between the neighbouring nations in the most filmy way.

Gadar 2

In the recent blockbuster of 2023, Gadar 2, we saw the character of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) heading to Pakistan to extract his son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) from prison. But the most interesting track of the film is the blooming romance between Jeete and Muskaan (Simrat Kaur), who is the daughter of a Pakistani hotelier Kurban Khan.

Veer-Zaara

The Yash Chopra directorial featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji narrated the story of Indian Air Force Officer Veer Pratap Singh, who crosses paths with a Pakistani woman, Zaara, who has travelled to India to fulfil her grandmother’s final wish — to scatter her ashes in the Sutlej River.

Gadar

In Anil Sharma’s monstrous blockbuster, we see the journey of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), who rescues Sakina (Ameesha Patel) from a terrifying and offers her refuge and in time, the two fall in love, marry and have a son.

Henna

The Randhir Kapoor directorial chronicles the journey of Chander an Indian man, who meets with an accident and falls into the river, which washes him up on the other side of the border (Pakistan). A local village girl named Henna (Zeba Bakhtiar) and her family, rescue him assuming he is from Pakistan and later we see the duo falling for each other.

Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Boota Singh

Based on the real story of Boota Singh, an ex-soldier in the British Army during World War II, Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Boota Singh featured Gurdass Mann and Divya Dutta in lead roles. In the film we see, Boota Singh rescuing a Muslim girl named Zainab from communal rioters post India-Pakistan partition of 1947 after which they fall in love with each other.
