Jawan actress Priyamani talks about how Atlee 'cheated' her prior to the Shah Rukh Khan starrer release
Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan has turned out to be a bonafide blockbuster at the box office. The film is set to enter the Rs 400 crore club in India and has earned over Rs 650 crore at the global box office.
Apart from SRK, every cast member of the team is garnering accolades for their performances and one of them is the gorgeous Priyamani, who portrayed Lakshmi, a member of SRK’s deadly girl squad. However, The Family Man actress has a grudge against director Atlee.
Her grudge stems from a viral rumour, which had taken the social media by storm ahead of the release of Jawan. Before the release, it was widely reported Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, who worked with Atlee in Bigil, Mersal and Theri, would have a cameo in Jawan. However, the rumour turned false when the movie was released.
In a recent interview, Priyamani revealed that Atlee had told her that Vijay was actually on board for the SRK starrer. So, the actress requested the director to keep her few scenes with the Varisu star, to which Atlee had agreed.
The actress later expressed her disappointment, when she realized that the Kollywood star was not part of the film. She later joked that the director cheated her in this fashion.
SRK fondly calls Priyamani her ‘dance teacher’ since they performed together in the hit dance number from Chennai Express.
After Shah Rukh Khan was attentive of where she was, the superstar asked Priyamani what she was doing behind him. To this, the Family Man actress replied that she had been placed behind him and that was what she had been told.
As the incident unfolded, Priyamani narrated that the Pathaan star took her hand and caught her shoulder, just to make her stand next to him. In doing so, he told the film’s director and choreographer ‘I want this girl to stand next to me. I don’t care what the choreography is. I don’t get anything. She is my dance teacher right from Chennai Express. I don’t care if I get it wrong. I’m going to look at her only and we’ll do so’, Priyamani added.
