K-Pop singer Lia leaves fans heartbroken as she announces break due to mental health
South Korean singer and popular K-pop idol Lia, a member of the famous band ITZY, has left her fans heartbroken after she announced a break from her career. The vocalist is making headlines due to her sudden exist from the band, which she cited as some health-related concerns. After the shocking announcement, she took to Instagram and penned an emotional handwritten letter dedicated to her fans.
Lia, aka Choi-Ji-su is the 23-year-old is the lead vocalist and sub-rapper in the famous K-pop band ITZY. The band consists of five members – Yeji, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, Yuna, and Lia. The young star gave her vocals and rap to ITZY’s hit songs like SNEAKERS, DALLA DALLA, and Cheshire, among others, which topped several charts. Apart from this, Lia also released her first solo song, Light You Up Like A Star for K-drama, The Red Sleeve, which mustered immense love from her fans.
Lia’s handwritten message to her fans
She wrote, “I think MIDZY must have been surprised to hear today’s news. I was worried that you would be heartbroken and sad, but at the same time, I was able to muster the courage, knowing you would understand and wait for me.”
Lia added that it’s been six years since she began her journey together with the members. She feels like she has passed by so many things one after another. Although they were such precious times, she came to realise that she has been gradually losing herself while running up to this point. To that end, she felt like she needed to take some time off to love and fill herself first. The singer further wrote that she sincerely hopes that MIDZY will be happy. She will work to return in good health in order to repay how much MIDZY wait and worry for her.
JYP Entertainment’s official statement
JYP Entertainment shared the news and issued an official statement via ITZY’s official fan community which read, “We would like to inform you that ITZY member Lia underwent consultation and examination as she is experiencing extreme tension and anxiety. Doctors have advised her to take rest and undergo treatment until she fully recovers.” Meanwhile, other members will continue to work on the scheduled activities.
