Koffee With Karan 8: Alia Bhatt breaks silence on Ranbir Kapoor being labelled toxic, says 'I feel bad because…'

Karan Johar invited Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt on his show Koffee With Karan 8. The two divas spilled the beans on many things and one ox them was about the controversy that happened over Ranbir Kapoor’s lipstick remark that led to people calling him toxic.

Addressing the same, Alia said, “I have a very candid way of speaking. So when I talk about anything in my life, I like to imitate the person, give anecdotes, make it personal. I feel a lot of things get picked out of context, which happened recently with the video. Then I realise that there were serious articles written about how he was a toxic man, and I thought, ‘are we serious?’ There are many issues in the world to give more attention to.”

She added, “The only reason I feel bad is because he is genuinely the opposite… There is a line which I think is being crossed but you cannot say anything about it. Ranbir says this, ‘Alia the audience owns you, they can say whatever the hell they want to say about you, as long as your movies are doing well please don’t complain sitting in your apartment in Bandra.”

When Ranbir Kapoor broke his silence too

The actor, who will be seen next in Animal, addressed the trolling during his fan interaction in a Zoom session. “I am not on social media so I don’t have to need to deal with it which is a great thing. But I feel negativity is very important especially if you are an artist and if you have some work out there I think both need to exist because then that creates a balance,” he said.

Ranbir went on to add that there are times when many opinions are made about an actor which are untrue. He mentioned that he doesn’t own this image of him which is created by the characters he play or media. “It’s owned by the public, it’s owned by people who like my work or dislike my work and they are allowed to say anything about me as long as they give my work a chance you know as long as I can prove to them as an actor and that has always been my focus is just to act,” he said.
