After Aamir Khan's 'Dangal', Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra reunite for 'Sam Bahadur'; here's what to expect

Apart from an immensely interesting and inspirational story, Aamir Khan’s Dangal also gave us the duo of Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra back in 2016. They gave a fantastic performance in the film. The two actresses also starred in Anurag Basu’s ‘Ludo‘.

And now, they come together again in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur that also stars Vicky Kaushal. Fatima takes up the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi whereas Sanya essays the role of Sam Bahadur’s wife

While interacting with PTI, the actress said, “She has a huge personality and I wasn’t sure about taking up the movie but Meghna (Gulzar) was sure. She said ‘trust me’ and I was like, if a director like her is saying, ‘trust me’, then something must be right, and maybe I’m not seeing what she is seeing.”

What to expect from the film and the performances

Given the solid cast and a solid director, the film should hit all the right notes when it releases on December 1. Meghna Gulzar has always packed a punch with her films sans resorting to theatrics. Her films are remarkable and restrained, a rare balance to achive.

The trailer launch was graced by the presence of Chief of the Army Staff, Manoj Pande, adding an extra layer of significance to the event. The entire team of Sam Bahadur was present for the event in Delhi.

Sam Bahadur is a film that delves into the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, highlighting the profound sacrifices he made for the nation. The movie also serves as a heartfelt tribute to his unwavering bravery and sharp wit.

The film’s teaser was also unveiled, giving a glimpse of Vicky Kaushal taking on the lead role as the fighting patriot, the first Field Marshal of India Sam Manekshaw. The teaser also shows glimpses of actresses Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. While Sanya will be playing the role of Sam Manekshaw’s wife, Silloo, Fatima Sana Shaikh will be portraying former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Based on his life and career in the Army which spans over four decades and five wars, the film is expected to shed light on how Sam Manekshaw was chosen as the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and his role in gaining military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war that led to the creation of Bangladesh.
