Massive Protests Sweep Israel, Demanding Release of Hostages Held in Gaza
The conflict in Gaza intensified following the October 7 attack by Hamas, during which around 2,500 militants crossed the border from the Gaza Strip into Israel, resulting in casualties and the taking of hostages.
Tel Aviv: Thousands of demonstrators against the Israeli government have assembled through the center of Tel Aviv, demanding greater efforts to arrive the liberate of hostages held captive in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported. Earlier on Saturday, Israeli protesters gathered at army headquarters and other government buildings, chanting slogans against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They urged him to negotiate peace with Hamas to secure the liberate of over a hundred prisoners still held through the conflict-ridden area.
Following the recovery of the bodies of six hostages from Gaza two weeks ago, widespread protests have erupted around the world again in Israel. Last weekend’s demonstration, in accordance with Al Jazeera, drew an estimated 750,000 participants.
