Met Gala 2024: Actress Alia Bhatt is currently in New York attending The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit gala that celebrates the opening of the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition. Alia made her grand entry on the red carpet in a gorgeous green pastel custom-made lehenga saree by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The green pastel tulle couture saree is embellished with hand-cut English flowers paired with a trailing veil. The saree pallu has golden threads/fringes flowing at the back, giving dramatic bling the overall look. The pink and white flowers have beads stuck to them and the green leaves are highlighted with golden boundaries. The boundaries of the saree-lehenga has tiny lace of small flowers.

This year, fashion’s annual extravaganza the Met Gala has taken JG Ballard’s title ‘Garden of Time’ as its dress code.

The highlight of the outfit is a sheer embroidered blouse with a big bow attached to the back. Another moment to talk about Alia Bhatt’s look is the custom-made jewellery featuring a sheesh patti, maang tika and earrings designed by Sabyasachi. The sheesh pati is meticulously etched with colourful diamonds, giving a regal look.

Alia Bhatt’s Saree Was Completed in 1,965 Hours With The Help of 163 Artisans

The saree designed by renowned couturier Sabyasachi who also walked the carpet this year, took 1965 man hours and around 163 artisans to bring this vision to life. Alia represented India in a silhouette she holds close to her heart. “When I thought of the dress code ‘Garden of Time’, I felt it needed something timeless and nothing is more timeless than a saree,” expressed Alia.
