New York: Indian Consulate honours valour of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons to commemorate Veer Baal Diwas

New York: Indian Consulate honours valour of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons to commemorate Veer Baal Diwas

On the occasion of Veer Baal Diwas, an exhibition was held here to honour the bravery and sacrifices made by the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh.

In honour of Veer Baal Diwas on Tuesday, the Consulate General of India in New York presented the exhibition.

According to a news statement from the mission, the exhibition was held to “celebrate the extraordinary valour and unparalleled sacrifices” made by “Veer Sahibzade,” the sons of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.

“Honouring the exemplary courage and immortal sacrifice of Veer Sahibzaade, proud sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji,” the Consulate said in a post on X, adding that it hosted an “exhibition on the occasion of #VeerBaalDiwas, paying our tributes to the bravehearts with unparalleled courage”.

To honour and pay honour to the “Veer Sahibzade,” a sizable contingent of the Indian-American community attended the ceremony.

The exhibition will be on display at the Consulate grounds through December 28 as a gesture of respect and at the request of a local Gurudwara priest, according to the Consulate.

In addition, Gurudwaras in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York will host the exhibition.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Varun Jeph, the Acting Consul General of India in New York, paid respects to the Veer Sahibzade at the Gurudwara Baba Makhan Shah Lubana in Queens.

Members of the local Sangat and Executive Committee of the Gurudwara joined him in ardas and kirtan.

He also went to the Gurudwara with the community people for langar.

For the benefit of young kids attending winter camps at the Gurudwara, special Veer Baal Diwas movies are also being shown.

Veer Baal Diwas, “a day commemorating the valour and martyrdom of young heroes, Guru Govind Singh Ji’s Sahibzade,” was also observed by the Indian Consulate General in Houston. An exhibition of photographs demonstrated their bravery and tenacity.

“Shaheedi Samagam was held at Brookfield Gurudwara, Wisconsin. Leading Sikh and Indian American leaders along with senior Embassy officials participated,” the Indian Embassy in the US said in a post on X.

“A fitting tribute was given to the exemplary courage and sacrifice of’sahibzadas’ of Guru Gobind Singh marking #VeerBaalDiwas,” the Indian Embassy continued.
