No Virat Kohli! BCCI Unveils India’s T20 World Cup 2024 Jersey In Presence Of Rohit Sharma – WATCH

New Delhi: Just less than a month to go for the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian team unveiled their new jersey on Monday at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Unlike the current one, the new jersey has orange colour on the sleeves while the body is blue. The three stripes in white is still there while the BCCI emblem has just one star above it signifying their inaugural T20 World Cup triumph in 2007. MS Dhoni was the Indian captain back then.

The jersey was unveiled in a 20-second video presentation that features Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. The jersey was flown in by a helicopter while the players looked at above in amazement to get a first look of the jersey. “One jersey. One Nation. Presenting the new Team India T20 jersey,” read the caption from BCCI’s apparel sponsor.

Interestingly, there was no Virat Kohli during the unveiling as the former Indian captain has been the poster boy of the game in the country for over a decade. Earlier on the day, the jersey was leaked online as a picture from one of the stores went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, the Indian team will be aiming its second title next month. Rohit, who was a part of the Indian team that won in the inaugural edition in South Africa, will be eager to prove his captaincy record in T20 cricket. He is also the first captain to win five IPL titles in history.

Earlier, India did come close to put their hands on an ICC trophy when the Men in Blue finished runners-up in the ODI World Cup final against Australia. The India opener will be hungrier to end India’s 11-year drought for an ICC trophy in West Indies.

Under Rohit, India had finished in the semifinals at 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Meanwhile, India begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5. The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash is on June 9 in New York. Canada and USA are the two other teams in India’s group.
