Noble Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai Makes Acting Debut with British Sitcom; See Her Cow-girl Look

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is making her sitcom debut with a cameo in the second season of the British series ‘We Are Lady Parts’. Her first look from the series has gone viral on social media, featuring Malala wearing a cowboy hat while riding a horse. According to The Express Tribune, the episode starring the 26-year-old is titled ‘Malala Made Me Do It,’ and features actors Anjana Vasan, Sarah Kameela Impey, Juliette Motamed, Lucie Shorthouse, and Faith Omole.

About Malala’s experience

Malala’s appearance has created a significant buzz, with Malala telling Vogue she “never expected to be in a show.” She added, “I’m finally showing my hidden talent.” Reflecting on her experience, Malala told The New York Times, “When I saw the set on the day of filming, it was completely beyond my wildest imagination. And the funny thing was, I didn’t have lines, so it made things a lot easier.” She praised the series for its uplifting portrayal of Muslim girls, noting that it allows viewers “to connect with them and relate to them.”

What’s the storyline?

In the second season of the show, the members of a music band face challenges such as eviction and rivalry while trying to record their first album. In the second episode, the band’s vocalist’s daughter is suspended from school for throwing eggs at her teacher, prompting a plot centered around removing slavery from the curriculum.

“I did what Malala would do. You know she fights for girls’ education every day,” Imani tells her mother, according to Mashable India. Her mother responds, “Malala would not throw eggs at Mr. Appleby, Imani!”

The band then writes a song titled ‘Malala Made Me Do It,’ highlighting their struggles. During a fantasy sequence in the song, Malala appears on a fake horse, wearing a bejewelled, fringed cowboy hat over a dupatta, and a stunning shiny blue dress.
