Pakistan court summons Imran Khan, wife on December 6 in Al-Qadir case

An anti-corruption court in Pakistan, hearing the Al-Qadir Trust case, has summoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi for a hearing on December 6.

The court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for six other individuals involved in the case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed the case against Khan and seven others, including his wife, alleging corruption related to the Al-Qadir Trust.

Judge Muhammad Bashir of Accountability Court No. 1 in Islamabad issued a written order for the appearance of the accused. Imran Khan, already in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, was directed to be produced at the next hearing.

The other six accused, including property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain and his son Ali Riaz, Farhat Shahzadi, a close friend of the spouse of the ex-prime minister, former special assistants to the premier Mirza Shahzad Akbar and Zulfi Bukhari, and lawyer Ziaul Mustafa Nasim were stated as at large and the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against them.

The judge also said that the next hearing would be conducted at Adiala jail as per a notification issued by the law ministry on November 14.

According to the charges, Khan and Bibi obtained billions of rupees and land worth dozens of acres from Bahria Town Ltd of Malik Riaz Hussain for legalising Rs 50 billion that was returned to the country by the UK.
