Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal is in no mood to slow down at the box office. After enjoying a monstrous opening weekend, the massy action-drama is setting new benchmarks on the weekdays. As per the early estimates, the movie collected around Rs 34 crore yesterday and has emerged as the second-highest first-Tuesday grosser after Gadar 2, which collected Rs 55.40 crore.
The important thing is that the Sunny Deol starrer had the advantage of the national holiday of Independence Day, which had fallen on Tuesday and henceforth resulted in a humongous collection. Animal has beaten all biggies like Baahubali 2 Hindi (Rs 30 crore), Simmba (Rs 28.19 crore), War (Rs 28.90 crore), Pathaan (Rs 23 crore), Jawan (Rs 26.52 crore) KGF 2 Hindi (Rs 19.14 crore) by a huge margin.
Animal has crossed the Rs 250 crore mark in its Hindi version and is expected to enter the Rs 300 crore by the end of its opening week.
While the film has crossed the business of films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, OMG 2 and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar The Kerala Story today, it will surpass the business of Tiger 3 to become the fifth highest grosser of the year after Jawan, Gadar 2 and Pathaan.
Talking about the review, Firstpost gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote, “The runtime of Animal is over 3 hours and 20 minutes and I can assure you there won’t be any moment where you feel the movie is boring. Throughout the film something is happening which will keep you hooked to the screens and the credit goes to Vanga’s superb editing skills and storytelling.
Talking about the performances, Ranbir Kapoor lives in and out to deliver one of his career-defining roles. Honestly, I wouldn’t have ever imagined that after being Bunny and Mickey from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, RK would go so dark, gore and violent and do this crazy stuff with Animal and that too like a boss.”
