Rohit Sharma LAVISHES Praise on Team USA Despite Loss vs India in T20 WC 2024 Match
Following the seven-wicket win and a qualification spot in the Super 8s, Rohit lavished praise on USA for the progress they have made as a cricketing nation.
New York: The United States of America may have lost the T20 World Cup 2024 match versus heavyweights India on Wednesday in New York, but they managed to win hearts. They also managed to turn the Indian captain Rohit Sharma to becoming their fan. Following the seven-wicket win and a qualification spot in the Super 8s, Rohit lavished praise on USA for the progress they have made as a cricketing nation.
“Lot of these guys have played cricket together, very happy to see their progress. Saw them last year in MLC as well, they are all hard-working guys,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation.
“It is a big relief, playing cricket here wasn’t easy. We had to stick through till the end in all 3 games. Will take a lot of confidence from these wins,” Rohit said on qualification into the next stage.
Chasing 111 to win, India got off to a disastrous start as they lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early in the piece. Saurabh Natravalkar picked up both the wickets before claiming the crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant as well. But once Surya and Dube got together there was no looking back for India as they cruised home.
Earlier, pacer Arshdeep Singh was brilliant with the ball while taking four wickets as India restricted the USA to 110/8. Nitish Kumar (27, 23b, 2×4 1×6) batted well in the company of former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson (15, 12b, 1×4, 1×6) after the USA were asked to bat first. For India, Arshdeep (4/9) and Hardik Pandya (2/14) were the best in the park, picking up six wickets between them.
