Shefali Shah reveals facing harassment at a young age, 'I was just scared'

From an abuse survivor in Monsoon Wedding to a hardworking house help in Jalsa, and Alia Bhatt’s headstrong mother in Darlings, Shefali Shah has delivered a wide range of roles during her long tenure as an actor.

Despite her celebrated professional life, the actress has faced her fair share of hardships in the personal sphere. Recently, during an interaction with News 18, Shefali Shah revealed that she faced harassment at a young age. Here is what she had to say about the horrifying experience.

Talking about the incident, Shefali Shah revealed that one day as she was returning from school, she ended up being harassed in a market, but she was unable to do anything about it. The actress was quoted as saying, “I was too young and I was just scared and no one stood up. I mean, it was crowded, but that’s not a justification but I guess almost all women have dealt with it.”

Shefali Shah said that according to her, the safety of daughters depends on how the boys have been raised. The actress said that as she herself is the mother of two boys, it is important for her to give right values to her children.

Shefali Shah nominated for the 2023 Emmy Awards

Talking about the professional updates for Shefali Shah, she was recently nominated for the prestigious International Emmy Awards 2023. She is in the running for the Best Performance by an Actress for the 2022 crime drama, Delhi Crime Season 2. She essayed the role of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the second installment of the web series. Reacting to the exciting announcement, Shefali Shah revealed that she is feeling surreal and she sees the nomination as a significant acknowledgment.

Now, learning more about Delhi Crime Season 2, helmed by Tanuj Chopra, the primary cast of the series includes names such as Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Anuraag Arora, Gopal Datt and Tillotama Shome, among others. Financed under the banner of SK Global Entertainment, Golden Karavan Production and Filmkaravan, Delhi Crime Season 2 premiered on Netflix on 26 August 2022.

Based on both real and fictional events, the show revolves around a violent quadruple murder which leads to an increase in the class divide in the National capital.
