During the press conference, Suman expressed his appreciation for the BJP and stated that he was unaware of this decision until the previous day. He acknowledged the guidance of a higher power in leading him to this step. Interacting with the media, Shekar said, Even I did not know till yesterday that I would be sitting here. A lot of things happen in life. Sometimes you don’t know what you are supposed to do and you get a direction from above and you follow it. I have come here with a positive outlook and I would like to thank God for directing me to come here (sic).”

In a recent interview, Suman discussed a scene where his character, under the influence of alcohol, becomes overly affectionate with Mallikajaan.

In an interview, Shekar Suman said, “The scene is about a nawab who is peeing out of a carriage, and in his state of inebriation is trying to make out with Mallikajaan. Bhansali wanted the nawab to turn around, and get fellatio mid-air, thinking that Mallikajaan is sitting on that side. And he’s convinced. It was a strange interpretation, and it hadn’t been done by anybody before, somebody having sex mid-air. He said, ‘I’m fine if you say no, if you find it too bizarre’(sic).”
