Taylor Swift surpasses Arijit Singh to become second-most followed Spotify artist
Well, the neck-to-neck battle between Taylor Swift and Arijit Singh on Spotify has been one of the major attractions for music lovers. While months ago, the Satranga crooner had surpassed Swift to become the third most followed artist on the platform, now the I Can See You singer has gone past Singh to emerge as the second most followed artist on Spotify.
With the Super Bowl craze, Taylor Swift‘s name has been associated with the football mania, which has helped her gain immense followers across the world.
The music platform, which gets updated daily is dominated by Ed Sheeran, who has 113,404,496 followers followed by Taylor Swift with 101,081,218 followers and Arijit Singh with 100,883,025 followers. Ariana Grande Billie Eilish, Drake and Eminem hold 4th, 5th and 6th spots respectively.
Taylor Swift recently created history at the Grammy Awards by becoming the first performer to win the prize for Album of the Year four times. The singer and songwriter bagged the award for her album Midnights, which also helped her secure the Best Pop Vocal Album award. She had previously been tied on three best album wins with Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Frank Sinatra.
After receiving the award Swift said she “would love to tell you that this is the best moment in my life”, but that simply finishing a song, rehearsing or preparing to play a show makes her equally happy. “For me, the award is the work,” she said. “All I want to do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much. It makes me so happy. It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award too.”
