Anker's 735 Nano II is a very clever wall plug.

I get to test a whole lot of gadgets, but some of the most critical are pieces of tech that help to power others. A common pain point is charging, whether it be finagling with various port types or finding a high-enough wattage wall plug to charge everything fast.

A lot of times I try the one made by the brand that names the device, could be Apple or Samsung, but in this case Anker has impressed me, and many others, again. The 735 wall plug features three ports and up to 65-watts. Speeds and feeds aside, this means you can charge a phone, earbuds, and a tablet or laptop without batting an eye.

Anker

This isn’t the first time I've highlighted this powerful Anker charger and it likely won’t be the last. Anker 735 charger is one of my essentials for both days trips and longer ones. It comes in a sleek space gray, but most importantly it’s quite compact at under 3-inches in length. You can also slide it into a laptop sleeve, a kit bag, or even a backpack.

The three ports are a mix of two flavors—a single classic USB-A and two of the more modern USB-C ports. This gives you a bit of wiggle room for what cables you need to pack alongside, but also lets you charge a range of devices. I could plug in a bevy of Android smartphones, a MacBook Air, or earbuds from Sony, Samsung, or Beats with a USB-C to USB-C cable. Same goes with a USB-A to USB-C cable. For an iPhone, the entry-level iPad, or AirPods I can simply bring a USB-C to Lightning cable.

There are really limitations thanks to Anker packing in two port types with a smart chip inside that can carry the right amount of power to each port. If you just have say a MacBook Air plugged in, it knows to push out a maximum amount of 65-watts. When you have two or three devices plugged in, the Anker 735 strategically splits the 65-watts between devices. As with other GAN (Gallium Nitride) chargers and wall plugs, there are safeguards here as well. In my testing the 735 can get warm at times, but not overly hot.

One key way I use the 735 is on an airplane or once I get to my destination, it's much easier to simply plug this in and wire three cables, than needing to fuss around with multiple wall plugs.

Down to just $42.49 when you clip the additional coupon on Amazon or Anker, it’s a pretty great deal. It also allows you to save a bit instead of buying three separate chargers for your devices. With the 735 Nano II it’s one wall plug for a plethora of devices. That’s pretty great.

If you’re after a different color or support for newer charging technology from Anker, there is Anker’s 735 GaN Prime 65-Watt charger. It’s a similar build that’s a bit longer and taller with more advanced technology inside. It’s a bit heftier and can in some cases charge a bit faster, but I’ll warn that at times with older outlets it can sometimes fall out due to the heavier overall build. Amazon and Anker have it for $59.99, full retail, but you can save 20% by clipping the coupon on page.
