Larsen and Toubro (L&T), India’s largest engineering firm, which has been powering ISRO’s space missions for over 5 decades, has now set its sights on conquering the international market as eyes a cope with NASA to build the successor of the International Space Station (ISS).

Earlier, L&T said it became in talks with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin for supplying orbital launch capabilities and space habitat solutions but the negotiations failed to materialise into anything concrete.

“Some remnants of that discussion continue till these days but now with NASA. So, we're also hopeful that when the U. S. requires its next space station, Indian firms can have a job to play contained in the supply chain,” Vikas Khita, Vice President, L&T Precision Engineering and Systems, told news agency PTI on the sidelines of an industry meet organised by Geospatial World.

Khita revealed the firm became also excited by building space ports, space parks and manufacturing clusters, areas which are expected to get a lift taking into account the government’s opening up of the gap sector for deepest participation in 2020.

“In commercial terms, we're having a look at a fivefold increase in turnover by 2033 of the gap economy and an oversized a bit of this increase is to come from the upstream and the downstream sectors,” he said
