TV Actress Digangana Suryavanshi Takes Legal Action Against ‘Show Stopper’ Makers, Sends Defamation Notice

Mumbai: Actor Digangana Suryavanshi has spoken out against the accusations thrown at her by Show Stopper’s director-producer, Manish Harishankar. She’s asserted that she’s fighting back legally, following allegations of deceptive practices and financial misconduct lodged against her by the show’s creators. Read on to find more details.

Digangana has opted for a legal pathway to challenge director Manish Harishankar. The actress sent a defamation notice and lodged a police complaint, invoking numerous Indian Penal Code sections, such as 420, 406, 509, 499, 500, 503, 506, 63, 199, and 211. Digangana has refuted the allegations brought forward by Manish, the brain behind the web series Show Stopper. Previously, Manish had implicated Digangana in serious charges, accusing her of “extortion” and “breach of trust”.

MH Films, the entity behind the series, has made a formal complaint to law enforcement against Digangana. They accused her of dishonesty and breach of trust, which are serious offenses under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the filed complaint, Digangana allegedly provided false information claiming that actor Akshay Kumar, along with his organization, were going to be sponsors of the project.

Mentioning the claims, Digangana Suryavanshi said, “Manish’s narrative is his twisted imagination, it’s all untrue. A cheap publicity stunt of simply dragging names, clearly he’s trying to find a bakra so he can bail out from not being able to sell the show even after more than two years. I don’t want to waste any more time explaining further, I’ve already wasted too much time trying to help him (sic).”

Digangana’s legal representative maintains that she gained the green light from Akshay Kumar to serve as a host for the grand end of the show according to their business deal. But, Manish could not keep his end of the bargain.

Digangana’s lawyer Rajendra Mishra said, “We would like to officially quote that all the allegations made against our client Digangana are absolutely baseless and an outcome of someone’s criminal intention and trying to cover up their own shortcomings. Our client has known Manish for 7 years and is an actress on his series “showstopper”, when Manish was in a situation where he clearly couldn’t help himself , he asked for help from our client and proposed a business deal where his team had executed an MOU between him and our client (sic).”

Digangana’s lawyer further added, “Strangely, Manish Harishankar doesn’t understand that extortion doesn’t happen in legal binding; it’s called business. Under the terms of the MOU. Our client had gotten a presenter on board, and honoured her side of the commitment (sic)”.

“Which is when our client further requested the presenter and after re-editing the show (for which our client invested 4 days at the edit suit) the presenter watched the episodes and agreed to present the show, although a lot of changes were still required, but Manish promised to fix them after their agreement (sic),” he stated.

In the earlier part of this month, a notable incident occurred as MH Films served a legal notice to the actor, Rakesh Bedi, and fashion designer, Krishan Parmar. Parmar is known to work closely with Digangana. The duo is faced with accusations of falsifying claims, a damaging act with detrimental effects on the production company’s integrity. Not only were they held accountable for such defamation, but the complaint also highlights their act of dissuading the media, asserting the project’s cancellation and non-issuance of payments.
