UT69 actor Raj Kundra: 'No one has benefitted from being on Koffee with Karan'
Shilpa Shetty’s husband and entrepreneur Raj Kundra, recently made his acting debut in Bollywood with the film UT69. He recently held a chat session, where he opened up about his life including the time he was lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail.
Kundra also hinted that he will not be appearing on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan soon as he said in a rapid-fire segment, “Koffee with Karan pe kisi ka bhala nahi hua hai (No one has benefitted from being on Koffee with Karan).” When asked, which actress would he cast opposite himself, he replied, “Deepika Padukone is an actress I’d cast opposite myself, she’s my favourite.”
Later he added. “Couple creators I admire: Shahid (Kapoor)-Mira (Rajput), very underrated. Ranveer overacted in Cirkus, but he’s still my favourite actor.”
In the first episode of KWK, Deepika garnered severe criticism when revealed she was casually dating Ranveer. She said, “I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun! And then he comes along, so I didn’t commit, until he proposed to me. There was no ‘commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.”
Talking about UT69, Firstpost gave the film 0.5 stars and wrote, “The biggest disappointment of the film UT69 is that it never touches upon the pornography racket the Kundra was involved in. This makes me question as to why the hell do we need to watch a film made my him which is trying to somehow glorify him and whitewash his sins! He doesn’t realise that audiences are intelligent enough to understand that ‘this man’ is trying to ‘hide’ something. UT69 is one of the least impactful films of the year, though the makers tried very hard to take a human interest angle to it.”
