World Cup 2023 Top 10 wicket-takers: Jasprit Bumrah closes in on Adam Zampa

With every passing match, the 2023 ODI World Cup is only getting better. There have been a few stunning upsets, apart from a dominant display by hosts India so far, who have maintained a 100 per cent record with six wins in as many matches.

The race for the semi-finals is also intensifying with all teams still mathematically alive to qualify, despite England’s recent slip up, as they have lost five of the six matches they have played so far.

While it’s the batters who have dominated the tournament for a large part of the tournament, the bowlers cannot be written off by any means.



As a matter of fact, we have witnessed bowlers changing the complexion of a game on multiple occasions, just like how Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah did against England.

Shami, who was only called into the playing XI against New Zealand as a replacement for the injured Hardik Pandya, has displayed impeccable skills with the ball, collecting nine wickets from the two matches he has played in this tournament so far.

It is, however, Australia spinner Adam Zampa who leads the bowlers’ charts with 16 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah is behind Zampa with 14 wickets, followed by New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner (14) with the same number of scalps.

Even Netherlands right arm pacer Bas de Leede, who is playing his first ODI World Cup, is among the top 10 wicket-takers, with 11 scalps, same as Kiwi pacer Matt Henry.

The race for ending the World Cup as the highest wicket-taker has only become more competitive, so much so that, the top 10 bowlers are separated by only six wickets.
