10 killed, over 40 injured in Balochistan mosque blast

Atleast 10 people were killed, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, while 40 others were left wounded in a blast neat a mosque in Balochistan Mastung.

The blast took place near the mosque where people had gathered for Eid Miladun Nabi, Geo Tv reported.

The wounded have been shifted to the hospital, said Station House Officer (SHO) Javed Lehri.

The explosion was of “massive nature”, according to Mastung Assistant Commissioner Atta Ul Munim. He also said the people were supposed to take out a procession after the prayers at the Madina mosque.

Those injured critically were being shifted to Provincial capital Quetta, Provincial Caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai said. He also added that a state of emergency had been imposed in the hospitals in the city.

This is the second major blast in the same district in one month. According to Geo Tv a blast injured several people including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah in the same district.
