Amazon’s Fire Tablets strike a balance as affordable and simple options that are great for streaming, some light gaming, and browsing the web. It’s not as feature-filled or as powerful as an iPad or Galaxy Tab.

Less than a week before Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event, you can get the most impressive Fire Tablet—the Fire Max 11—for the lowest price it's ever been. Right now, the 64GB Fire Max 11 with Lockscreen Ads is a massive 35% off at just $159.

Prime members score fast, free shipping on the Fire Max 11, and can access many of the perks of membership on the device. You can get a free trial here if you aren’t a member.

Amazon Fire Max 11, $150 (was $230) at Amazon

Like the Fire 7, Fire HD 8, or Fire HD 10 Tablets from Amazon, the Fire Max 11 runs a custom version of Android dubbed “FireOS”. It’s an Amazon operating system flavor that deeply integrates Alexa and other key services.

From the home screen, you can easily open up a book in Kindle, fire up your favorite film in Prime Video, and even browse Amazon.com to find whatever you need. You also get instant access to Alexa via a press on the 11-inch display or by saying the wake phrase “Alexa,” followed by your request.

However, unlike the other Fire Tablets that feature plastic builds, the Amazon Fire Max 11 is much more premium. The all-aluminum design makes this 11-inch tablet just 7.5 millimeters thick and weighs 17.28 ounces. That’s easy enough to hold with just one hand and easily toss into a bag.

Amazon souped up the display on the front as it’s an 11-inch 2000 x 1,200 panel that gets plenty bright and packs in many details. There is even a low blue light mode, and in my testing, it’s great for gaming, browsing the web, or streaming content. It’s all fairly fluid, thanks to an octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It’s no surprise, but this is the fastest tablet in Amazon’s lineup by a good measure.

The enhanced viewing experience, paired with a more premium build and a boatload of performance, make the Fire Max 11 an excellent choice for streaming, browsing the web and communicating with friends. There is a main camera on the rear, but the 8-megapixel front-facing camera will likely be the most useful. The Max 11 also features stereo speakers for a solid sound and lasts up to 14 hours on a full charge.

While we’d still recommend an iPad—even the base 9th Gen—or a Galaxy Tab as a better device suited for work and productivity tasks, the Fire Max 11 succeeds as one for entertainment. And right now, you can get it for the best price it’s ever been offered at Amazon.
