Apple has provided a glimpse into the entertainment experiences users can expect at the launch of its mixed-reality Apple Vision Pro headset on February 2.

Priced at $3,500, the headset will offer an array of entertainment options, including 150 3D movies, immersive films and series, a Travel Mode feature, and access to popular streaming services such as Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video.

Upon release, the Vision Pro will enable users to download and stream content from various platforms, including Disney+, ESPN, MLB, PGA Tour, Max, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fubo, Crunchyroll, Red Bull TV, IMAX, TikTok, and MUBI.

Users can also watch online and stream videos using Safari and other browsers.

The headset will support 3D versions of movies like “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “Dune,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and “The Super Mario Bros.”

Users can access 3D versions of eligible movies through the Apple TV app, with 3D editions available at no extra cost for those who own or purchase the movies. Streaming apps, including Disney+, are expected to offer 3D versions of their new and popular movies on the Vision Pro.

Apple Immersive Video, a new entertainment format, will feature 180-degree 3D 8K recordings with Spatial Audio. The Vision Pro will launch with a curated selection of immersive films and series, such as “Adventure” and “Wild Life.”

Additional features include a “Travel Mode” for stabilized visuals during plane use and a “Guest Users” feature for sharing specific apps and experiences with others.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, described the Apple Vision Pro as the “ultimate entertainment device,” allowing users to transform any space into the best seat in the house.

Preorders for the headset begin on January 19 at 5 AM PT. The Vision Pro App Store, at launch, will feature over a million compatible iOS and iPadOS apps, along with experiences designed specifically for the mixed-reality headset.

The device boasts ultra-high-resolution micro-OLED displays, wide colour, high dynamic range, Dolby Vision, and comes with two hours of general use, extendable to 2.5 hours for video playback with an external battery connected via USB-C.
