KKR, RCB, PBKS – Franchises That Could Bid For KL Rahul at IPL 2025 Mega Auction if LSG Release Captain
It is now likely that Rahul is released by the franchise at the end of the tournament or the cricketer may himself step out of the LSG camp - all possibilities are open.
Hyderabad: KL Rahul is arguably the most talented cricketer in the country and he has proved that time and again. Rahul is also among the leading run-getters in the history of the IPL and has also led the Lucknow Super Giants to the playoffs in their first two seasons itself. But, the performance on Wednesday from the Rahul-led LSG side disappointed the owner, who seemed to have given him a dressing-down. It is now likely that Rahul is released by the franchise at the end of the tournament or the cricketer may himself step out of the LSG camp – all possibilities are open.
With the mega auction coming up, a few franchises could be interested in Rahul if he is up for sale.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: With the mega auction coming up, RCB are likely to release a number of players. Also, with a poor 2024 season, RCB would like to start afresh and that may mean have a new captain in place. Rahul could be a good option as he has been part of that franchise in the past as well.
Kolkata Knight Riders: This is another franchise that may look for a new captain after Shreyas Iyer’s woeful run with the bat this season. In 11 games this season, Iyer has amassed 280 runs at an average of 35. If that is the case, Rahul could be in for a shot.
Punjab Kings: Rahul has been part of the Punjab franchise in the past and given their 2024 show, PBKS would surely look for a leader and that is where Rahul could be contemplated.
