Asia Cup Final: How Sri Lanka can trouble India

Apart from the motivation of adding another Asia Cup title to their kitty, the final also provides the teams an opportunity to make a statement ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 which will be played in India from 5 October.

A continental-level trophy win ahead of the World Cup will be a major boost for both teams.

In the Super Four match between the two sides, it was India who secured a 41-run win to qualify for the final but not before a young Dunith Wellalage stunned the Men in Blue batters with a fifer as they were bowled out for 213.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball as Sri Lanka where shot out for 172.

All eyes will be on Wellalage’s performance in the final and the all-rounder will have extra responsibility as Maheesh Theekshana has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, India are set to be without Axar Patel as he suffered multiple injuries during the Bangladesh match.
