Asian Games 2023: Aishwary Pratap Singh, men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol team win bronze medals

Aishwary Pratap Singh secured a bronze medal in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle individual event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday. This is India’s second medal in shooting on the day after he alongside Divyansh Singh Panwar and Rudrankkash Patil won a gold medal, also establishing a world in the team event.

Aishwary Pratap Singh’s bronze medal extended India’s medal tally at the Hangzhou Games to nine medals.

Lihao Sheng of China took the gold medal with a world record, Asian Games record and Asian record of 253.3 points. South Korea’s Hajun Park took the silver medal with 251.3 points. Pratap Singh was third with 228.8 poiints.

At one point in the final, Aishwary Pratap Singh and Rudrankkash Patil went against each other in order to determine who progresses to the top-three. In the shoot-off, Aishwary shot better to keep himself alive.

However, shots of 10.3 and 9.8 on the 21st and 22nd shots didn’t help with his competitors posting 10.7 and 10.4; 10.9 and 10.4 scores.

On Sunday (24 September), India had clinched two medals in shooting – women’s 10m air rifle team (Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh and Ramita Jindal) and women’s 10m air rifle (Ramita Jindal).

Bronze in Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol team event

In men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event, the Indian team consisting of Vijayveer Sidhu, Anish and Adarsh Singh clinched a bronze medal with 1718 points. Similar to the 10m Air Rifle event, this one also takes into account the individual scores in qualification to decide standings for the team.

China took the gold medal with 1765 points and Korea took second with 1734 points.

Vijayveer, who collected 582 points for a sixth place, is the only Indian to advance to the final in the individual event. Adarsh Singh finished 14th (576 points) and Anish was 22nd (560 points) and missed the top-six criteria.
