The entire Heeramandi cast could be seen in the film posing for pictures at the occasion. Richa Chadha approached Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who was standing in the centre with his niece Sharmin Segal. What happened next was disgraceful! However, as soon as Richa and Sanjay exchanged greetings, the director was seen pushing the latter away. In addition to this, he pulled Sharmin towards him in the middle and planted a cheek in the process.

Due to a widely shared video from a Heeramandi special screening, social media users have condemned Sanjay Leela Bhansali Bhansali’s behaviour. One of the users wrote, “Moving Richa out of the way in order to highlight his niece, how shameful!” Another user said, “I think sharmin did move to the other side to let richa stand with slb but he pulled her towards the center making the whole situation awkward.” The third user commented, “Hope SLB knows putting her centre stage in relation to Heera Mandi will only hurt her.
