Box-Office: Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' mints Rs 58 crore on day two, Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' earns Rs 8.50 crore

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur were two of the most anticipated films of 2023 that clashed at the box-office. Kapoor’s film stormed the box-office on day one with Rs 54 crore approx. and on day two, it’s been reported by Pinkvilla it has jumped to Rs 58 crore, taking the two-day total to Rs 112 crore.

Coming to Sam Bahadur, the Meghna Gulzar-directorial made around Rs 6 crore on day one and showed an impressive growth on day two by collecting Rs 8.50 crore.

Ranbir Kapoor, for the longest time, was modern day Hindi cinema’s go-to actor for essaying coming-of-age characters. In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, he said he’s come of age. And now, with this film, he has come of rage.

On the occasion of his 42nd birthday, the makers dropped the teaser of his Animal and the actor, even if the term sounds cliched, was presented like never before. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna.

And while reviewing Sam Bahadur, Firstpost wrote-“While the filmmaker has perfectly captured the essence of the 1930s to 1970s era along with the war sequences, the narrative failed to find a connect as it looked scattered with the slow-paced progress of the story. Honestly, the uniformity of the storytelling turned out to be a major concern as there were no high points or wow moments in the film (which you do expect when you are making a movie on a great soldier).”

The review added, “Honestly, one can’t specify the plot of Sam Bahadur as it traces the life of the legendary army personality Sam Manekshaw, who dedicated his 40 years to the country by participating in five wars and commanding most of them. The film showcases his courage, wittiness, and greatest achievements and contributions from World War 2 to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.”
