Delhi High Court stays Shaji Prabhakaran’s removal as AIFF general secretary: Report

The Delhi High Court has issued a stay order on the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) decision to remove Shaji Prabhakaran from the post of general secretary, it was reported by  Sportstar on Friday. AIFF sacked Prabhakaran in November due to a “trust deficit” between president Kalyan Chaubey and the general secretary. M Satyanarayan of Karnataka was appointed the acting secretary general.

A day after his sacking, the decision was ratified by the AIFF Executive Committee on 9 November.

“The (Executive) Committee ratified the decision to terminate the contract of Dr Shaji Prabhakaran as the Secretary General, and appoint Mr M Satyanarayan as the Acting Secretary General of the All India Football Federation,” AIFF’s press release said.

Prabhakaran in a statement had said that he was ‘shocked’ at AIFF’s decision.

“AIFF’s decision to terminate me comes as a shock. We were working as a team. Charging me for ‘breach of trust’ is a massive allegation,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“More on this later. I remain a servant of the beautiful game and thank you all who have supported me in my honest effort for Indian football.”

Shaji became the general secretary in September 2022 after Chaubey was elceted as the AIFF president.
