Electreon Wireless, Israeli Hi-tech Company, Installs First Wireless Electric Vehicles Charging Road In Norway

Jerusalem: Electreon Wireless, an Israeli hi-tech company, installed the first wireless charging road in Norway. This will allow electric vehicles (EVs) to charge while in motion, the company reported to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange on Sunday.

Electreon’s road charging systems employ specialized copper coils installed just below the road surface. A new 100-meter segment of this technology has been constructed in Trondheim and will undergo evaluation for approximately one year.

The trials will be conducted using three electric buses produced by the Chinese company Yutong and a fourth bus from another Chinese manufacturer, Higer, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.

The pilot programs will evaluate the technology’s potential to serve as the exclusive energy source for buses, facilitating their continuous operation without the need for charging breaks throughout the day, thereby decreasing carbon emissions.

Additionally, the tests will assess the charging system’s durability and efficiency in Trondheim’s harsh winter conditions, demonstrating its reliability and performance in the distinctive climate of this northern region.

The projects are projected to cost as much as 22.4 million Norwegian kroner, equivalent to 2.12 million US dollars, with funding provided by the Norwegian government.
