Fat Shaming? Swara Bhaskar Shuts Down News Portal Claiming Weight Gain Affects Her Career: ‘Please Explain These Geniuses…’

Swara Bhaskar, welcomed a baby girl named Raabiyaa on September 23, 2023, with her husband Fahad Ahmed. The actor took to Instagram stories to call out an article by a renowned Hindi news portal. The ‘leading’ newspaper fat-shamed her and claimed she was not getting work in film because of that. Sharing the screenshot of the original tweet, Swara wrote, “For those who cannot read the Devanagari script, this is a leading Hindi newspaper handle that thinks it is newsworthy that a recent mom, who birthed a child a few months ago, put on weight! Can someone please explain the physiology of childbirth to the geniuses…”

Swara Bhasker takes offence at a media website that has been fat-shaming her.  The outlet claimed that the ‘Tanu Weds Manu 2’ actor’s weight caused her to lose her job. The original tweet read as – “Badhte wajan ke karan Swara ko nahi mil raha kaam (Swara is not getting work because of her weight gain).”

Swara Bhasker Gets Angry at News Outlet

Speaking to HT in 2003, Swara Bhasker opened up about motherhood. She revealed that she had her baby within 10 months of her marriage. The actor also spoke about her daughter Raabiya’s upbringing and said, “Raabiyaa will have the best of both worlds. She will have access to two kinds of faith. It is like how India is a mishmash of caste and religion. In fact, the two families were chatting post her birth and discovered that the chhathhi (sixth day after the baby’s birth) is common to both Hindus and Muslims. I think that is beautiful. We focus on the differences, but there is so much similarity. When you look for differences with an agenda, then you will find that rubbish.”

On the work front, Swara Bhasker made her feature film debut in the 2009 movie ‘Madholal Keep Walking.’ She also acted in several movies, including the short Sheer Qorma (2018), Anaarkali of Aarah (2017), Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Raanjhanaa (2013), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), Nil Battey Sannata (2016), and Veere Di Wedding (2018). Her most recent movie, Sheer Qorma, came out in August 2023. Before that, she starred in the movie Jahaan Chaar Yaar, which came out in 2022.
